Writer and Co-Director
I wrote this. I am currently an entertainment columnist for Curve Magazine (US), Diva Magazine (UK), and LOTL Magazine (AU). From 2013-2016, I was a staff writer for AfterEllen, the now semi-defuct #1 website for LGBTQ women. My writing has appeared in Jezebel, Playboy, xoJane, and the Good Men Project. I've sold over a hundred original articles and written several screenplays. My first writing job was as an intern for Offbeat Magazine, a legendary New Orleans music magazine. I graduated Tulane University shortly after, then moved to Los Angeles for no particular reason.
I believe that nothing is sacred and everything is funny.
Lauren Elizabeth Neal
Co-Director and Producer
Following film school and the selection of her first short film for the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival in France, internships at Miramax and for Christine Vachon's Killer Films turned Neal's focus to the business side of film for five years. In New York, she worked as a sales agent for Cinetic Media on such titles as Precious, The Kids Are All Right, Life During Wartime, and Trouble the Water. She was then the point distribution executive on the theatrical release of Banksy's Exit Through the Gift Shop.
Neal returned to writing with her second short film and won international writing fellowships that allowed her to study under Eileen Myles and Alex Halberstadt. After earning a master's degree in History, she conducted original research and wrote the story for a biopic currently in development at Broad Green Pictures. Her second project with Broad Green Pictures involved research and development material for Straight Outta Compton screenwriter Andrea Berloff and Terrence Malick's producers. Her research and writing on city spaces and communities can also be found in the magazines Dissent and Guernica. She is currently writing a series spotlighting diverse, iconic artists for AfterEllen.
